Wisconsin New Homes

Wisconsin, once a small fur trading territory, has developed into a beautifully, modern Midwestern state. With a population of 5.6 million people, the state has been growing for many years. Development in major cities such as, Milwaukee and Madison have transformed the state into a thriving metropolitan area. Traditionally, the state has a fairly stable economy compared to other states. Slow steady population growth and reliable industries keep the state from rising unemployment and higher housing prices. The housing market for the state has benefitted from the stable economy. Wisconsinites continue to buy new homes as jobs remain steady. Builders continue to build new homes in the major cities as more and more people shift to an alluring urban lifestyle.

Wisconsin is located on the Great Lakes in the middle part of the United States. The state borders: Minnesota on the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, and Michigan and Lake Superior to the north. The state’s location on the coast of Lake Michigan has helped it to be a leading producer of many different resources. Once a major logging port, the settlers used the rivers and lakes to ship material all over the United States. Today, the primary export is cheese and other dairy products. The state’s location makes it much easier for distributing a variety of different dairy products. As the leading producer of cheese for the country, the state ships out 2.4 million pounds a year to the rest of the country and the world. Other industries which go hand in hand with cheese production also thrive in the state. Food processing and beer brewing are other major industries that employees thousands throughout the state. Stable industries have helped the state stay out of the radar from bad housing trends. Some of the two largest cities in the state are fairing much better than other major cities in the country. Madison, the state’s capitol, has a housing market that is very healthy. Home to the University of Wisconsin, the capitol has had no problem retaining jobs. The city boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country at 7.4%. Considered one of the best places to live for it’s safe, friendly feel; the city has been growing at a steady rate. Growing population and a decent job supply have kept residents buying new homes in the cities market. Other cities in the state have been growing too as jobs are made available.

Sales Trends
Wisconsin housing sales should see an increase in future years as more and more people move into the state. With low unemployment rates and numerous opportunities available, residents from neighboring states will migrate to Wisconsin to find new jobs and cheaper homes. The state benefits from having lower home prices than other neighboring states. New residents will help take Wisconsin to the next level of housing sales in the years to come as popularity increases.  « Close »
