Tennessee New Homes

Tennessee, most notably famous for its leading country music scene, is a state that has so much more to offer than just top selling albums. The music scene in Nashville is, in fact, the center of country and Christian music for the nation, but the state offers a wide array of other important industries. The cotton industry remains one of the top resources coming out of the state. Beef production is another major resource that the state produces. Roughly 59% of the farms in the state have beef cattle on them. Like, many other states, Tennessee is also home to a number of major corporations that were founded in the state. Companies headquartered in the state include FedEx, AutoZone, and even Regal Entertainment group. With many different national resources and commerce, the state economy is doing well in comparison to neighboring southern states.

The state’s long, line type shape borders many different states in the area. Bordering: Kentucky and Virginia to the north; North Carolina to the east; Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to the south; and Arkansas and Missouri to the west; the state ties Missouri for bordering the most states. With apparent geological barricades, the state is divided into three separate divisions which are legally recognized: East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and West Tennessee. The three regions provide quite different geographies ranging from the tall Smoky Mountains in the east, the Cumberland Plateau and valleys in the middle part, and the flat coastal plains to the west. The largest cities, Nashville and Memphis are located in the middle (Nashville) and western areas (Memphis). Read more »

The housing market in Tennessee has remained fairly stable. The two largest cities, Nashville and Memphis, have helped to bring more and more people into the state. The Nashville housing market is doing very well compared to the rest of the country. Musicians from across the country have come to settle down and take advantage of the many different resources available. Numerous recording studios, studio musicians, and record labels are available in the downtown area. The city has continued to gain new residents at a steady pace with an average 2.3% population increase every year.

Sales Trends
Hanley Wood, in a recent article on the healthiest housing markets, rated Nashville as the eleventh healthiest market. Sales volumes were not as high as many of the other top markets, but other factors have helped the city to stay on top. With only 8,142 new homes in 2008, builders have remained successful rather with increased revenue from higher housing prices than from sheer total sales. Steady prices are the main reason experts believe the Nashville market is healthier than most. A steady population increase and a growing job market have also helped the market to stay ahead. A detailed look at the report on Nashville is available at here
Tennessee did not have a large increase in price from the housing boom, but also hasn’t seen a large decrease since the recession. Experts believe that the state’s housing market will take off much before other states as more and more people start buying new homes. With steady housing prices and an increase interest in the state, Tennessee will see a lot more attention in the housing market in years to come.  « Close »
